The Departmental Progressive Club Legacy Foundation — known as the DPC Legacy Foundation — was founded on a profound belief: that the strength of those who came before us carries an obligation to invest in those who will carry us forward. Rooted in the spirit of the Departmental Progressive Club and guided by the enduring tagline The Past to Present, the DPC Legacy Foundation honors the legacy of its founders by doing the work they envisioned — building the next generation of confident, culturally grounded, and community-committed leaders. This proposal outlines the Foundation’s mission, its comprehensive programmatic framework, and the bold vision that compels us to seek the partnership and support of funders, community leaders, and champions of youth empowerment.

The DPC Legacy Foundation is dedicated to empowering young aspiring community members through transformative mentorship relationships, character development programs, cultural awareness initiatives, and life skills training that cultivate confident leaders committed to personal excellence and community engagement. We serve a population of young people who are full of promise and potential — yet often underserved by the systems and institutions designed to support them. Through a holistic, relationship-centered approach, the Foundation meets young people where they are and walks alongside them as they grow into who they are called to be. Our programming is built on seven interconnected pillars: mentorship, character development, cultural enrichment, life skills, leadership formation, community service, and empowerment — each one reinforcing the others to create a transformative experience that changes lives from the inside out. Central to our commitment to long-term opportunity is the awarding of college and summer camp scholarships — investments that extend our reach beyond programming and into the futures of the young people we serve.

To fulfill this mission, the DPC Legacy Foundation has established eight strategic goals that span the full arc of a young person’s development and the organization’s long-term sustainability. Goals 1 through 4 address the direct needs of participants and their families: connecting every youth with a qualified mentor, delivering monthly character development and life skills workshops, celebrating cultural identity through arts and historical programming, and engaging families and community partners as essential stakeholders in each young person’s journey. Goals 5 and 6 ensure the Foundation operates with excellence and accountability — diversifying funding, expanding program reach, tracking measurable outcomes, and publishing annual impact reports that demonstrate results to the communities we serve. Goals 7 and 8 extend our commitment to opportunity beyond our immediate programming: The DPC Legacy Scholarship awards $500–$2,000 annually to support participants pursuing higher education, while the Summer Camp Scholarship Program provides $250–$1,500 awards that open doors to enrichment experiences that expand horizons, build skills, and ignite possibility during the critical summer months.

The DPC Legacy Foundation is more than a nonprofit — it is a movement rooted in legacy, driven by love for community, and laser-focused on outcomes that last a lifetime. We are building an organization designed not only to serve today’s young people, but to grow alongside them: creating scholarship alumni networks, peer mentorship pipelines, and intergenerational bonds that will strengthen our community for decades to come.
